LGBTQI+ Perception Index

LGBTQI+ Perception Index

Global survey led by F&M Global Barometers

Introduction

The LGBTQI+ Perception Index is a survey founded and led by F&M Global Barometers that gauges the LGBTQI+ community’s perception of human rights. The survey gives the global LGBTQI+ community a chance to share their voice by answering questions about safety, acceptance, fear, and experiences with violence and discrimination. The responses are used to inform policy and research and to advance LGBTQI+ human rights for all.

The Safe Space Alliance has partnered with F&M Global Barometers to help increase visibility of the survey, grow participation in the survey, and provide consultation on the survey as needed.

Methodology

The survey asks six basic questions on personal safety, safety in gathering, acceptance, discrimination, fear of police, and violence. The survey adheres to human subjects guidelines and was approved by Franklin & Marshall College’s Institutional Review Board. Respondents complete the survey via the Internet and choose answers on a Likert scale from 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest). Responses are random and anonymous. Each country is assigned a letter grade of A-F and assessed on a number scale where A (100%) is the highest and F (0%) is the lowest. You can learn more here.
